This coming Sunday marks the third year that Schlafly Bottleworks has played host to a very special event, the Henry Herbst St. Louis Craft Beer Symposium. Part of St. Louis Craft Beer Week and named for St. Louis beer historian, author, collector and dear friend of the brewery, Henry Herbst who is sadly no longer with us, this unique event will feature a panel discussion and Q & A with St. Louis beer industry professionals about the “State of Craft Beer” in St. Louis and beyond moderated by St. Louis Public Radio News Producer, Adam Allington.
We wanted to ensure that our panel offered an all-inclusive insight into the current state of the craft beer scene in St. Louis and therefore, for our panel this year, we’ve invited one representative from each of the four branches of the craft industry.
- Brewers – Florian Kuplent: Co-owner/Brewmaster of Urban Chestnut Brewing Company
- Distributors – Mitch Turner: Director of Training and Development for Major Brands
- Retailers – Andy Snead: Beverage Buyer for Whole Foods Galleria
- The Media – Evan Benn: St. Louis Post-Dispatch Beer Columnist and Author of Brew in the Lou
In ancient Greece, the symposium was a drinking party (symposion, “to drink together”) that doubled as a forum for men to debate and discuss or otherwise celebrate special occasions and we fully intend to carry on that tradition at our own Craft Beer Symposium.
The event is free and open to the public and is set to begin at 6pm on Sunday, Aug. 7th in the Crown Room at Schlafly Bottleworks. Of course, a variety of Schlafly beer styles will be available for purchase during the event to ensure a lively “Question and Answer” session! Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to engage in an open discussion of the relevant issues, trends and exciting changes currently taking place in the St. Louis craft beer scene.
