The Maplewood Winter Farmers Market Runs November Through March at Schlafly Bottleworks

farmers-mktlogo-100This coming Saturday brings the first Winter Farmers Market at Schlafly Bottleworks of the 2011-2012 season and we’re kicking it off with a bang to make sure you have everything you need to prepare a fantastic, locally sourced Thanksgiving meal.

The weather forecast for Saturday says warm with a slight chance of rain, so in an effort to enjoy this Fall weather just a little bit longer, we’re planning on hosting this week’s Winter Market outside in the Bottleworks parking lot, where we normally set up during the warm season. The Market will go from 9am until 1pm and we have some wonderful vendors scheduled to appear.

fallIf you’re looking for Thanksgiving meal ideas, the Winter Market should have some great items to make side dishes with like greens, kale, butternut squash, and more. You’ll really be able to score big on dessert points because our farmers will have pumpkins and sweet potatoes for pie making (ummmm….pies) and several of the baked goods vendors will have pre-made pies and tarts available for sale.

If you’re in the market for a locally sourced turkey, you can still order one from our good friends at Farrar Out Farm by calling 573-579-9550. They have turkeys between 12 - 18 lbs and they cost $4/lb. Pickup for the turkeys will be on Sunday, November 20th at the Kirkwood Farmers Market (150 E. Argonne) from 9:30am - 1pm.

brunchThe Frittata! Fun to eat and fun to say.

In a really exciting Winter Market development, Schlafly Bottleworks will now be serving our Brunch Menu in the bar from 9am until 11am during every Winter Farmers Market this season. Our full menu and dining room seating still won’t be available until regular hours (starting at 11am), but now you can come do your shopping early and then stick around for some delicious Veggie Biscuits & Gravy and Huevos Rancheros!

The Winter Market wants to help you out for the upcoming gift-giving holidays as well. Currently, the plan for the December 17th Winter Market is to host an outdoor “Holiday Fair” that would feature a cavalcade of local artists selling crafts of all sorts that would make for an ideal local holiday shopping opportunity. This is very much dependent on the weather cooperating, but we’ll make sure to keep you updated.

The 2011/2012 Winter Market at Schlafly Bottleworks takes place Nov. 19th, Dec. 17th, Jan. 28th, Feb. 25th, and March 31st and normally takes place inside, in the Henry Herbst Crown Room from 9am - 1pm. Brunch and drinks will be offerred early at the bar from 9am - 11am, and our retail shop will be open early as well on Nov. 19th and Dec. 17th to assist with holiday shopping.
