  • Friday, May 9th  | 4:00 pm - 2:00 am - Bluejacket and Schlafly Collaboration Release Party

From Bluejacket - We’ve long loved Schlafly’s expansive array of ales and lagers, and–having raised a few with their crew over the years–are proud to count their team among our closest friends in the craft beer business. Knowing our penchant for collaborations, Schlafly has been on our radar since the inception of Bluejacket. A few months back, the collaborative idea was floated–one of the first for Schlafly–and we all jumped at the opportunity.

When it came down to the brew itself, our Bluejacket team (Beer Director Greg Engert and our Brewers Bobby Bump, Josh Chapman & Owen Miller) quickly found common ground with the Schlafly crew (Founder Dan Kopman, Brewmaster Stephen Hale & East Coast Sales Ambassador Mike Harbin). The Schlafly contingent established a Scottish direction with the notion of a strong Wee Heavy/ Scotch Ale as the base (Dan Kopman brewed in England and has family–who grow barley for brewing & distilling–in Scotland, while Stephen Hale is rarely seen without a kilt) and the Bluejacket side brought our love for the culinary in craft beer by infusing the strong Scottish brew with Scotch Bonnet Peppers (though Jamaican in origin, the name is all too fitting). Mike Harbin came through in the clutch with the beer’s overarching inspiration and eventual name. An erstwhile musician, and current music fanatic, Mike started championing a song from his all-time favorite album, The Crossing from Scotland’s very own Big Country, called “Fields of Fire”. When we heard it, we knew we had the inspiration and the name for this fiery Scottish ale.

On Friday, May 9th, at 4pm, we will tap the very first kegs of Fields of Fire at Bluejacket, as well as a delicious cask of Fields of Fire that has been spiked with additional Scotch Bonnet Peppers in the firkin! Come out and join the Schlafly and Bluejacket teams for an amazing warm-up to Savor!

Location: Bluejacket Brewery & The Arsenal
300 Tingey Street SE
