Schlafly Beer Announces Release of Schlafly Imperial Topaz India Pale Ale to Celebrate 23 Years.

While some might celebrate 23 years of joy and happiness with the traditional anniversary gift of an Imperial Topaz gemstone, Schlafly Beer has chosen to honor our faithful fans with an Imperial Topaz IPA.  The concept and the recipe is the work of Schlafly Brewmaster, James “Otto” Ottolini.

The Bridge

In 1991, we bought an abandoned turn of the century building, a 32,000 sq ft building occupying about an acre of land, brought it back to life and opened The Schlafly Tap Room. We chose this location because we wanted to make something happen in a place where everyone, except for a few persistent believers, said it would not work.  We brought to St. Louis traditional European beer styles and the foods that accompany them long before terms like craft beer and gastro pub became part of our day to day lexicon.

Leading Schlafly Beer - The Next 20 Years

We started Schlafly Beer with a mission:  To brew better beer and help rebuild our St. Louis Community.  We define better as more flavorful; we exemplify rebuilding community by the two vacant, abandoned buildings that we brought back to life, and in doing so, served as anchors for the rebuilding of the neighborhoods around the Breweries.  Today we brew an ever expanding number of internationally recognized traditional European and new innovative beers styles.  We continue to invest in the two Breweries as we seek to improve the experience for our customers.  We are working on a potential third Brewery in St. Louis, a much larger project that will once again make the statement that Schlafly Beer believes in the future of St. Louis.

We Are, Schlafly Beer: 2012 And Beyond

“We human beings are social beings. We come into the world as the result of others’ actions. We survive here in dependence on others. For this reason, it is hardly surprising that most of our happiness arises in the context of our relationships with others.”

Craft Or Crafty? Consumers Deserve To Know The Truth

The Brewers Association, the not-for-profit trade association dedicated to small and independent American craft brewers, issued the following statement today regarding the increase in production and promotion of craft-like beers by large, non-craft breweries: Beer has had roots in this country for centuries. Virtually every Founding Father either made or enjoyed it. Today, thanks to the ingenuity of small and independent brewers, the U.S. has moved beyond offering only light American lager and now has more beer styles and brands to choose from than any other market in the world...

Minding Our Brewery

Independent Brewers, often described today as Craft Brewers, are all thinking about brewing new beers, brewing more beer, selling more beer and how to market their beers.  The how to make more beer or building “brewing capacity” and the how to develop the “selling and marketing capacity” have and continue to be two critical issues facing Craft Brewers.  Craft Brewers are facing big decisions at a time when there is plenty of uncertainty.
