The St. Louis Brewers Guild Harvest Festival Offers A Chance To Own A Piece Of Schlafly History

The St. Louis Brewers Guild is throwing its inaugural Harvest Festival on November 1st in Lafayette Park and it promises to be one heck of a party. This festival has everything: twenty-two local St. Louis breweries pouring a selection of brews made from fresh hops and seasonal ingredients (expect some tried and true classics as well), live music, food trucks, a giant pumpkin, local vendors and entertainers, a special Yoga Buzz session (early entry into the festival for an hour-long yoga class followed by a 15 minute head start on the beer tasting for only a $7 upcharge to your ticket), Furkels, a costume contest, and a silent auction. Tickets are on sale now for both the festival and the festival with the early entry Yoga class at www.stlbg.com. Now…let’s talk about that silent auction for a moment.

Is This Heaven? No, It's Iowa.

This summer will mark Schlafly Beer’s fourth trip across Iowa via bicycle. For those who might not know, RAGBRAI is the longest, oldest, bike-touring event in the world. It stands for the Registers Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa and while it is no small feat, nothing compares to the amount of joy it brings us.

The St. Louis Brewers Guild Heritage Festival - A Toast To St. Louis Beer

It’s a great time to be a beer lover in St. Louis. I’m probably preaching to the choir, but I want to say it again. It’s a great time to be a beer lover in St. Louis. Quick history lesson - Beer and the brewing industry have long been deeply connected to the pulse and growth of our City. Prior to Prohibition there were over 50 breweries operating in and around the St. Louis area. After Prohibition, a handful of breweries re-opened and gave it a go, but by the late 1980’s every St. Louis-based brewery except for Anheuser-Busch had gone out of business due to a combination of the changing tastes of American beer consumers coupled with rampant consolidation and an extremely competitive national market.

Repeal of Prohibition Beer Festival 2014 Brings Visiting Brewers And Beers From Washington State

Our annual Repeal of Prohibition Beer Festival at Schlafly Bottleworks is almost upon us and we couldn’t be more excited. This festival celebrates two key milestones in beer history: the anniversary of the April 7th, 1933 implementation of the “Cullen-Harrison Act” which began the march towards federal repeal of Prohibition by legalizing beer with an alcohol content of 3.2% and… the 12th anniversary of the opening of Schlafly Bottleworks, our main production brewery, restaurant, garden, and “community center” in the heart of Maplewood, MO.

Happy 21st Schlafiversary!

Twenty-one years ago today, the Schlafly Tap Room first opened its doors at 21st and Locust in downtown St. Louis, MO. Our co-founders, Tom and Dan just wanted a place to drink great, handcrafted, traditional beer styles with their friends, which simply weren’t available in St. Louis at that time. They didn’t set out to become St. Louis’s largest locally owned brewery, but twenty-one years later, here we are.
