Below are the Schlafly beer selections available at Art & Air 2011.
Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout: Our Bourbon Barrel Aged Imperial Stout is complex and strong, with coffee and chocolate flavors. The beer is brewed to have big malt flavor and hop bitterness to balance the sweetness of the high alcohol content. This stout is fermented for three months before being transferred to freshly emptied bourbon barrels. The beer ages for up to a year before being carbonated and bottled.
Oak Aged Barleywine: Our Oak Aged Barleywine is a deep copper color with intense malt flavors and assertive hops for balance. Fermentation with American ale yeast allows the caramel-flavored malt to shine. Barleywine is fermented for three months before being transferred to American-made, oak barrels which have been toasted over fire to our specification. It is aged in these barrels for another three months to create a smooth, luscious beer. While the beer is high in alcohol, the flavors develop and become smooth over time. Aging creates raisin and port wine characteristics in the finished beer.
Tripel: Our Tripel is golden with a relatively light body compared to its alcohol content. Bottle-conditioning creates an effervescent mouth feel, as well as the distinct Belgian lace prized in Belgian beers. The use of European noble hops creates a mild spicy flavor. Fermented with a traditional, Trappist Belgian yeast strain, this beer has subtle fruity and banana flavors.
Biere de Garde: Our Bière de Garde is a traditional French farmhouse ale, with burnt orange coloring. Four different types of malt create a toffee sweetness, while French Strisselspalt hops add a subtle spice flavor. The beer is fermented with a distinct French farmhouse ale strain, and is then bottle-conditioned with extra sugar and yeast for at least two weeks.
American IPA: Our American IPA has big, bold hop flavor from American-grown hops and is golden-colored and full-bodied. Made with large quantities of 2 row and Crystal malted barley, this beer is an American, scaled-up version of its cousin style, English IPA. Flavored with the American hops, Amarillo, Centennial and Simcoe, this beer has bitterness with citrus and fruit undertones.
