Fred Friction is a legendary St. Louis performer as a singer/songwriter with a guitar, a pair of spoons or behind a set of drums. He has recorded with HIGHWAY MATRONS, on JESUS DRANK WINE, a locally produced solo album. His “I’m Goin’ Blind” is on the recently released Tower Groove Records compilation.
Speaking of HIGHWAY MATRONS, Mark Stephens is on the bill with ACCELERANDO. Mark has fronted THE BOORAYS and co-founded HIGHWAY MATRONS. The present group includes the steady beats of St. Louis journeyman Todd Dorsey. The group is also part of the Tower Groove Records collective. Their “Fireflies” is on the compilation.
THE PAINKILLERS are part of St. Louis rock n’ roll history. After recording and playing from 1981-86, the group splintered into other projects and musical ventures. They are still fondly remembered, however, and released a 21-track CD with Euclid Records in 2011. With the release has come a few carefully selected gigs.
