KO visits from Indy as a strong contender for the year’s most interesting new musical act, entrancing crowds with a drone-thickened atmosphere, exploring new territory and sharing good vibes along the way…groove beats with looped vocals and plenty of electronic touches, and Ko’s lead vocal cuts through like a siren - albeit a rather thought-provoking, nerve-calming siren.
HUMDRUM tears into 2013 with a new album, THE ARRANGMENT, and further collaborations with local playmakers at Tower Groove Records…melodic, rhythmic and damaged. They are Tap Room faves.
THE POTOMAC ACCORD Formed as a trio in 2000, the band, led by quavering singer, guitarist and keyboardist Andy Benn and drummer Jerry Green, released two studio albums: Silver Line On a Black Sea and In One-Hundred Years the Prize Will Be Forgotten, and toured far and wide on the dark, lyrical strength of its glow-through-the-gloom sound. You’ll hear keyboard flourishes, some Rickenbacker shreds and elements of post-jazz improvisations with drums and bass to keep it steady. Mr. Kasten once said that fans of experimental, pop-conscious music should follow TPE.
