“This is a great neighborhood festival that draws people of all ages,” says Larry Weinles, festival director. “Our first year exceeded our expectations by drawing hundreds of neighbors and guests in a real street-party atmosphere.”  Keeping the event free and including activities for families is an important part of engaging neighbors and showing the rest of region how special the city neighborhood is, according to festival organizers.

Beer and food will be available for sale. Guests are welcome to bring lawn and camp chairs into the festival area but coolers aren’t permitted by city ordinance.

The Shaw Neighborhood was voted St. Louis’ “Best Neighborhood” in 2011 by the Riverfront Times and is home to a diverse population of residents, two award-winning schools, The Thurman Grill, Mama Josephine’s, SweetArt and Sasha’s on Shaw. It is bordered by Grand Boulevard, Tower Grove Park, the Missouri Botanical Garden and Interstate 44.

The Shaw Neighborhood Housing Corporation will be conducting tours of available Shaw Neighborhood Housing for sale or rent on Sunday, June 2.
