The poem “Ten Dreamers in a Motel” is by Josephine Miles from her very prescient collection about sub/urban space, Prefabrications (1955). Poetry Scores commissioned 10 St. Louis songwriters to set the 10 parts of this poem to music.
“Ten Dreamers in a Motel” will premiere new scores of this poetry by Robert Goetz, Tracy Swigert, Mark Buckheit, Chris King and David Melson, Mike Burgett, Heidi Dean, Nick Barbieri, Joe Thebeau, Michael Martin and Ann Hirschfeld.

ANN HIRSCHFELD & MARK BUCKHEIT
Ann Hirschfeld is fresh from wowing a packed house at Mad Art with her poetry score of Anne Sexton’s “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” which will be released by Poetry Scores this year. She goes back to the beginnings of St. Louis’ post-punk rock scene, and was co-leader of Plaid Cattle, a stalwart band in the Cicero’s Basement Bar scene of the late 80s, early 90s. She will be accompanied by Mark Buckheit, who has similarly deep roots in the St. Louis rock scene as one of the co-leaders of Three Foot Thick. That band’s song “Cole Porter Kind of Day” was a standout on Rick Wood’s epochal “Out of the Gate” compilation documenting that scene.
